Cenote Expedition – Freediving retreat

On this trip we will alternate between training sessions and free diving, exploring an extraordinary land of jungle, history and crystal clear waters.

A journey between apnea and adventure

In January 2026 our first group expedition to Mexico will start: a retreat dedicated to freediving, exploring and discovering the wonderful Yucatán Peninsula. A unique trip, designed for freedivers (even first-time freedivers) who want to immerse themselves-in every sense-in the beauty of these magical places.

I personally visited these same places a few months ago(I wrote about them here as a must-see destination), and it is the emotions experienced there that prompted me to propose this group experience. An authentic experience that we will live together with Francesca and Alberto from Alma Libre, friends and freediving instructors who live permanently in Mérida and know this land deeply.

Together with them we will build an authentic experience with attention to detail, including diving, nature, culture and great food.

Where are we going to go

4 nights in Valladolid + 4 nights in Mérida, two colonial cities that will allow us to experience Yucatán like true locals.

Valladolid: picturesque, colorful, surrounded by spectacular cenotes and within walking distance of Chichén Itzá, one of the 7 Wonders of the World.
Mérida: the vibrant capital of Yucatán, where we will visit less touristy cenotes and have a unique experience with a local Mayan family.

Program (8 nights - 9 days)

📍 Day 1 – Arrival in Cancun and transfer to Valladolid, welcome dinner
📍 Day 2 – First cenote and water training
📍 Day 3 – More spectacular cenote + lunch at cenote
📍 Day 4 – Visit to Chichén Itzá and Izamal
📍 Day 5 – Transfer to Mérida, city tour and dinner
📍 Day 6 – Cenote day + lunch on the beach at sunset
📍 Day 7 – Workout and fun diving in two cenotes
📍 Day 8 – Experience with Mayan family + another cenote and despedida dinner
📍 Day 9 – Check-out and goodbye

Requirements for participation

🔹 Have at least one level 1 freediving certification (any recognized didactic)
🔹 Desire to discover, share, explore

How much does it cost

Full retreat price: €2,350

That includes:

Overnight stays
Welcome dinner and final dinner
Transfers to/from airport and domestic
Entrance fees to all cenotes
Guided activities and experiences

Excluded from cost:
