Spermwhale whisperers expedition
From November 13 to 19 we will fly to Dominica in the heart of the Caribbean in search of sperm whales. We will have daily sea trips between snorkeling and encounters with one of the most fascinating cetaceans on the planet. Small group and no patent requirements.
There are encounters that are not forgotten: not because they are spectacular but because they change the way we look at the ocean.
The Dominica expedition was born from just that. A trip dedicated to those who dream of observing one of the most fascinating animals on the planet up close: the sperm whale.
For 7 days we will live on the Caribbean island of Dominica, one of the few places in the world where it is possible to encounter these ocean giants year-round. This is home to a resident population of sperm whales that frequent the deep waters just a few miles off the coast, making possible an experience that elsewhere takes weeks of sailing.

Why Dominica
Dominica is known as the most natural island in the Caribbean.
Rainforests, volcanic mountains, hot springs, waterfalls and a sea still little affected by mass tourism make this a unique place.
But the real reason that brings us here is the ocean.
The deep waters surrounding the island are home to one of the most important resident populations of sperm whales in the world. The proximity between the coast and the deep seabed allows quick access to areas frequented by cetaceans, increasing the chances of encounters.
Why I chose this expedition
In recent years I have been fortunate to experience extraordinary encounters at sea, from humpback whales in Polynesia to mobulas in Baja California.
Of all the destinations that kept appearing in the stories of freedivers, photographers, and researchers, there was one that particularly caught my attention-Dominica.
This is home to one of the world’s most important resident sperm whale populations, in a natural setting that is still authentic and far from large tourist flows.
This expedition was born out of a desire to share with a small group of people a rare experience dedicated to meeting one of the most fascinating animals that inhabit the oceans. In one of the places still little traveled by big companies and international tour operators.
The encounter with sperm whales
The sperm whale is the largest predator on the planet. It can reach 18 meters in length and exceed 50 tons in weight.
Yet what is really striking is not its size.
It is the slow movements, the sounds used to communicate (the clicks), the way it interacts with its family group, and the feeling of being in front of an animal that spends most of its life in the depths.
Every encounter is different: some last only a few seconds, while others can turn into moments that stay with us for a lifetime.
Program (6 nights - 7 days)
📍Day 1 – arrival and transfer to the facility that will host us
📍Day 2 – We start with exploring the island among nature, local villages waterfalls and some of the most iconic sites
📍Day 3 – First full day by boat in search of sperm whales
📍Day 4 – Second day dedicated entirely to the sea and exploration in the water
📍Day 5 – Third and final day out at sea on the boat for the last exciting encounters
📍Day 6 – Free day off for some sea and relaxation
📍Day 7 – check out and bye bye Dominica
What to bring
Each day we will spend several hours in the water, and to avoid feeling cold I recommend bringing your own equipment:
- wetsuit (2 mm one-piece or two-piece) or mutino
- mask and snorkel
- long fins
- beach towel (with spare)
- water bottle
- sunscreen
- hat (against the sun)
- rain and windproof k-way
If you don’t have equipment, don’t worry, we will provide it for rent at an extra cost.
In general it will be hot so dress for the beach and bring your best swimsuits but also a long pant and a sweatshirt for cooler evenings.
