Sharm el Sheikh paradise for freediving enthusiasts

Sharm el Sheikh, on the shores of the Red Sea. With a breathtaking coral reef and a wide range of water activities, it is a paradise for snorkeling, freediving and scuba diving enthusiasts.

I will tell you not only about the beauty of the Red Sea in Sharm el Sheik, but also about my personal experience in a freediving workshop that allowed me to push my limits and reach new heights.

When to go to Sharm el Sheikh

The best time to visit Sharm el Sheikh is between October and April, when temperatures are milder and ideal for enjoying outdoor activities without the stifling heat of summer.

During these months, the weather is perfect for snorkeling, diving and freediving, with the water remaining warm and welcoming at all times. Summer, on the other hand, can be very hot and less pleasant for those who do not like high temperatures.

My experience: apnea workshop with Liquidum

I was in Sharm el Sheikh for a week-long freediving workshop with Liquidum, the company of world champion Homar Leuci among the top experts in the field of freediving training, along with a group of freedivers of different levels.

Between training, exercises, theoretical lectures and practical tests, I had the opportunity to develop my freediving skills, achieving new personal bests. The energy of the group and the guidance of Homar, and partner Hector, made this an unforgettable and highly formative experience.

The Red Sea, with its clear waters and perfect conditions, was the ideal place to improve my performance and push myself beyond my limits.

Water sports in Sharm el Sheikh: snorkeling and freediving

The waters of the Red Sea, with their extraordinary coral reefs, offer a wide variety of marine experiences. Snorkeling is one of the most popular activities because of the opportunity to observe a wide range of marine species up close. Some of the most distinctive fish you may encounter are:
  • Clownfish, living among anemones
  • Butterfly fish, with their vibrant colors
  • Parrotfish, known for their multicolored scales
In the depths freedivers and divers can spot larger creatures, including:
  • Sea turtles, swimming near the reefs;
  • Napoleon fish, imposing, majestic and beautiful
  • Sea Eagle, or eagle rays. Very similar to manta rays but smaller
  • Hammerhead sharks and other shark species.
For those who practice freediving, Sharm el Sheikh offers ideal conditions to train and improve. During the workshop with Liquidum, we were able to explore not only the technique, but also the mental aspect of this discipline, which is essential for reaching new depths.

Freediving world apnea center: a stage for freedivers

The Freediving World Apnea Center, located at the Sharm Club Hotel, is one of the world’s most renowned centers for freediving. Here, I was able to participate in intensive training sessions, followed by theoretical workshops on breathing, compensation and relaxation. The center offers courses for all levels, but it is also a place of excellence for those who, like me, want to push themselves further and improve their performance in the company of experienced professionals.
