Cenote Expedition – Freediving retreat

Have you ever wanted to explore the most evocative cenotes in the Yucatán, immersing yourself in the authentic atmosphere of colonial Mexico, between Mayan culture and days in the water dedicated to your passion?

On this trip we will alternate between training sessions and free diving, exploring an extraordinary land of jungle, history and crystal clear waters.

If these places have always fascinated you, now is the right time to experience them together.

A journey between apnea and adventure

The second group expedition to Mexico will depart in January 2027: a retreat dedicated to freediving, exploration, and discovery of the marvelous Yucatán Peninsula. A unique journey, designed for freedivers (even beginners) who want to immerse themselves—in every sense—in the beauty of these magical places.

After the success of the first edition of the Cenote Expedition, it was the emotions experienced there that pushed me to propose this second group experience.

Sarà una spedizione autentica che vivremo insieme ad Alma Libre, una scuola di apnea che di Mérida con una conoscenza e connessione profonda con questa terra tra immersioni, natura, cultura e ottimo cibo.

Where are we going

4 nights in Valladolid + 3 nights in Mérida, two colonial cities that will allow us to experience Yucatán like true locals.

  • Valladolid: colorful, surrounded by spectacular cenotes and just steps from Chichén Itzá, one of the 7 wonders of the world.
  • Mérida: the capital of Yucatán, where we will visit less touristy cenotes and have a unique experience with a local Mayan family.
But we will also visit:
  • Izamal, also known as the yellow city, and we’ll discover why together. We’ll also climb the Kinich Kak Moo pyramid, dedicated to the sun god and free to enter.
  • Tixkokob for some unique and decidedly out-of-the-ordinary shopping (no spoilers)

What will we experience

  • Training and fun diving in the peninsula’s most beautiful cenotes
  • Immersive days between underwater photography, relaxation and sharing
  • Visit to Chichén Itzá and the yellow city of Izamal
  • Culinary experiences and authentic moments with local people
  • Group activities, but with room for your freedom
  • Discovery, sharing and new friends.

What to bring

Every day we will spend several hours in the water and to avoid feeling cold I recommend bringing your own equipment:

  • wetsuit (3mm one-piece or two-piece)
  • mask and snorkel
  • long fins
  • beach towel (with spare)
  • water bottle
  • sun cream

If you don’t have equipment, don’t worry, we will provide it for rent at an extra cost.

In generale farà caldo quindi vestiti da mare e porta i tuoi migliori costumi ma anche un pantalone lungo e una felpa per le serate più fresche.
